Envato is a leading digital design marketplace:
Their community is comprised of more than seven million people worldwide who buy and sell creative assets. Envato’s total community earnings have exceeded $400 million since the company launched 2006. The company is looking to increase that total by shaking up how designers are compensated for their work, with a new subscriber share model.
I reached out to Xavier Russo, a marketing lead and strategist at Envato to learn more – and it’s clear he is a man on a mission to stop unfair compensation for designers. I asked Xavier about the company’s new Envato Elements platform and how Envato thinks its new “subscriber share” model will revolutionize pay standards while supporting designers all over the world.
Let’s start at the beginning - what is Envato?
We like to think of Envato as the world’s leading community for creative assets and creative people. We offer a host of well-known marketplaces for digital design content – featuring thousands of graphics, WordPress templates, add-ons, fonts and more. Some you have likely heard of include ThemeForest and GraphicRiver. There are also millions of people who use the video courses and free tutorials on the Envato Tuts+ education network, and in addition we have Envato Studio, which connects people with hand picked freelancers to complete their creative projects.
